JOB POSITION: Full Time, Non-ExemptWORK HOURS: Sunday - Thursday -7:00 AM - 3:30PMEnvironmental Monitoring & Technologies, Inc. (EMT) is an environmental laboratory, providing our clients with quality testing services for more than 35 years. We specialize in analysis of water, wastewater, and soils for organic and inorganic compounds, as well as conducting field sampling services for a variety of regulatory programs. -In an effort to prevent hazardous substances harmful to the environment from entering fresh water sources, EMT samples flows of water, wastewater, and storm water, for such harmful substances as lead, mercury, cyanide, and dozens of other organic and inorganic compounds.OBJECTIVES OF POSITION: - - - -The Laboratory Technician (LT) performs a wide variety of tasks to facilitate production and quality goals. - The LT is responsible for planning daily workflow, monitoring quality of procedures and proper technique, and communicating issues and needs to the Inorganics Supervisor. The Laboratory Technician will perform tasks according to EMTs standard operating procedures and protocols in a culture of safe action, honest, and ethical behavior in all laboratory activities. The LT will perform specific duties assigned by the Inorganics Supervisor to ensure that client service requests are met. The LT must display motivation to see projects through to completion to meet client expectations.SPECIFIC DUTIES OF THE POSITION:Primary Laboratory Tasks:BOD, pH , COD, Alkalinity, Open and Closed cup Flash point analysisOther tests as determined by the Inorganics Supervisor

Responsibilities of the position:Keep track of and order needed supplies in a timely fashion as to not incur RUSH delivery chargesPrepare and properly label reagents and standardsComplete general laboratory paperwork in laboratory logbooks, maintenance books, standard books, bench sheets, etc.Report results in the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS)Properly dispose of samples according to the SOPClean and maintain in good working order any laboratory instrumentation (pH meters, pipettes, etc.) assigned to you Communicating workload status and any data quality issues to supervisorAssisting supervisor in determining sources of problems (Corrective Actions Reports)Implementing corrective actions to resolve those issuesOther duties as determined by your supervisorPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION
Must be able to stand for long periods of timeMust be able to lift up to 25 pounds using correct and safe lifting techniques.Must be able to work in refrigerated storage areas for short periods of time.Must be able to wear all PPE required for the positionPERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL CREDENTIALS:
Working knowledge of laboratory methods for inorganic and preparation methods, or equivalentBachelors degree in Chemistry or related fieldWorking knowledge of Microsoft Office, Word, Excel Willingness to learn our Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).Excellent verbal and written communications skills;Self-directed; goal and outcome driven.Have good interpersonal and teamwork skills. -Powered by JazzHR
