responsible for providing technical expertise on a variety of
projects and programs. You will use your expert knowledge of
engineering discipline and standards, processes and tools to
complete and ensure compliance of various projects. You are the
point of contact for external customers and you may participate in
development of new business opportunities and product linesKEY
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support research and development of the next-generation
lithium-ion battery electrolyte materials
- Serve as the local expert for fundamental mechanisms and
electrochemistry taking place within lithium-ion battery
electrolyte and liquid/solid interface during battery cycling
- Work closely with cross-functional R&D teams to develop
core technologies, including but not limited to creation of novel
and unprecedented electrolyte chemicals and formulations;
measurement and data analysis to identify critical factors for cell
lifetime and/or performance; reduction of battery performance data
to fundamental mechanistic insight hands-on fabrication of
electrochemical test cells; initialization and monitoring of
battery testing
- Design of advanced electrolyte formulations for various
cathodes material to achieve cell performance targets
- Generation of knowledge from battery cycling data and
performance metrics to guide ideation, creation, and development of
future electrolyte chemicals
- Guide understanding of potential failure mechanisms in battery
cells
- YOU MUST HAVE
- M.S. in Chemistry, Electrochemistry, Materials Science,
Chemical Engineering, or related field.
- 5+ years of battery materials and/or electrochemistry
experience (academia and/or industry)
- Due to U.S. export control laws, must be a US citizen,
permanent resident, or have a protected status
- Experience developing electrolyte chemicals and electrolyte
formulations (including, but not limited to novel chemical
synthesis)
- Experience in synthesis of liquid electrolyte components (Li
salt, solvent, additives)WE VALUE
- PhD in Chemistry, Electrochemistry, Materials Science, Chemical
Engineering, or related field.----3+ years of industrial experience
in the lithium rechargeable cells
- Demonstrated experience with electrochemical characterization
e.g. cyclic voltammetry, impedance spectroscopy, cycle life
testing, and abuse testing
- Demonstrated capability of designing experiments to enable
clear results that drive decisions in an industrial R&D
environment
- Ability to ensure a high level of scientific rigor is applied
to all projects
- Desire to work collaboratively with many internal teams in new
molecule ideation, discovery, creation, and application
- Familiarity with statistical analyses and Design of Experiments
(DOE)
- Ability to plan, develop, and execute DOE for fabrication and
testing of lithium-ion batteries
- A passion for scientific curiosity and creativity
- An open, honest, and team-oriented personality
- Eagerness to get involved in hands-on work, with a positive
attitude and desire to acquire new skills quickly
