The Senior Application Developer at Food Genius is responsible for the design, development, and implementation of industry-leading web applications using cutting-edge cloud-based services. The Senior Application Developer will work across business functions to deliver high performing web-based applications that are scalable, maintainable, and automated where possible.

This person will primarily be responsible for applying technical knowledge, skills, and judgment to deliver web-based data and analytics products that provide insights and facilitate the partnerships between US Foods, our vendors, and 3rd-parties.

This position is hybrid which means the work is completed onsite from our Home Office in Rosemont or our Chicago office as well as remotely.

RESPONSIBILITIES

* Lead the development of web-based data-centric products that can be scaled up quickly using UI development skills including HTML5 and JS frameworks like React or Angular.
* Back-end strengths would ideally include: Python, Snowflake, Github, Dagster and cloud-based services like AWS and/or salesforce.com.
* Follow Agile methodologies but can develop specifications and design documents for enterprise business functions, as needed when collaborating with IT teams, external teams, and consultants.
* Develops high-quality code, configuration, and user documentation for new applications.
* Conduct and participate in code reviews with the Food Genius team.
* Guide and participate in the documentation of our work, including FAQs, system functionality, on-boarding / knowledge transfer assets, and operational processes
* Develop, coordinate and release targeted application bug fixes.
* Work with minimal supervision and provide status updates and escalation to leadership as appropriate.

QUALIFICATIONS :

Education/Training:

* B.S. in Computer Science or related field is required, but coding talent, and proven track record takes priority over your degree.

Related Experience/Requirements:

* 5 years of experience building high-performing data-centric web-based applications for Fortune 500 enterprises.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

* Proven ability to design and implement data-centric web-based applications using best practices (cloud-based tech stacks, open-source)
* Proven ability to analyze and understand existing processes and code.
* Works and communicates effectively with all levels of management.
* Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
* Must be a team player and enjoy working with a start-up-like team within a larger Fortune-500 enterprise.
* Ability to gather and prioritize requirements and user stories from business clients.
* Comfortable creating minimum viable product versions for application / services that can be extended with business owners and other stakeholders.

Proficiency in:

* Front-end / HTML and open-source JavaScript frameworks used for web development - like React or Angular
* Python or OOP languages
* Docker, Github workflows, and automation tools like Jenkins, Dagster
* AWS CLI and services
* SQL databases / data warehouses like Postgres, MySQL, Aurora, Snowflake
* Consuming APIs
* Familiarity with Agile methodologies - any will do.
