For more information visit www.uop.com.An excellent career opportunity is currently available for a Lead R&D Engineer/Scientist in the Process Modeling and Optimization Development group within UOP's Research and Development organization located in Des Plaines, IL. This position affords a unique and visible opportunity to develop reactor and process models and enhanced data analytics tools which are critical to the development and support of new process technologies from their inception in R&D through the commercialization stage.Position Responsibilities:---Taking a leading role in developing new process models and tools to maximize the value delivered to clients by Honeywell UOP technology. ---Leading new product development programs for sensor enabled integrated data analytics solutions---Leading capability programs to enable digitalization of R&D infrastructure---Mentoring and coaching modeling and optimization engineers in supporting the development of new models and data analytics tools ---Championing model based experimental design to reduce project cycle time and improve experimental efficiency ---Supporting the scale-up of technology from Research & Development into Engineering production. ---Find solutions to technical problems, both individually and by supporting the efforts of diverse groups of technical experts.---The ability to travel both domestic and internationally approximately 10% annually. You Must Have---PhD in Chemical Engineering with 10 years experience in process development, process modeling and reaction engineering of refining, petrochemicals and /or gas processing applications. We Value---Knowledge of chemical engineering fundamentals including fluid flow, heat transfer, mass transfer and reaction engineering.---Knowledge of UOP technologies: Refining/Petrochemicals/Gas Processing applications.---Experience with leading new product development or tool development programs ---Strong working knowledge of optimization tools, parameter estimation, model discrimination and experimental design.---Strong interpersonal skills and the capability to work effectively across multiple functional departments.---Demonstrated ability to work independently with a strong focus on delivering results and identifying alternative solutions when challenges arise. ---Excellent written and verbal communication skills to ensure all aspects of projects are clearly understood and well documented.---Knowledge of Six-Sigma principles and their use in managing risk and uncertainty.
