Job Description:

Basic Function and Responsibility:

The Manager of Instructional Technology (MIT) under guidance of Director of Campus Technologies collaborates and oversees instructional technology systems and services employed for the development, instruction and support of online, hybrid and face-to-face courses. The MIT coordinates the administration, maintenance and troubleshooting of the learning management systems, third-party tools and software used to augment faculty teaching and student learning. Additionally, under guidance of Director of Campus Technologies the Manager of Instructional Technology leads and guides the Instructional Technology Specialists and other team members to advance online learning strategic goals and initiatives.



Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the Online Learning Technical Support Team's primary point of contact for the overall administration of the learning management system and leads upgrade, maintenance, and troubleshooting activities in collaboration with the Instructional Technology Specialists and the IT team.

  • Work collaboratively with faculty and other College stakeholders to achieve their instructional technology goals and objectives.

  • Manage and supervise Instructional Technology Specialists.

  • Under direction of Director of Campus Technologies, leads the efforts of the instructional technology specialists for the development, implementation and the administration of instructional and technical support material as well as support activities for faculty, staff and students.

  • Perform duties as the technical LMS administrator and primary point of contact with vendor and vendor support team.

  • Develop and conduct workshops in the use of instructional technologies for faculty, staff and students, including the use of the learning management system, classroom technology, and among others.

  • Assist with the development and implementation of Online Learning initiatives in collaboration with the Office of Online Curriculum and Instruction to advance student learning and support strategic initiatives.

  • Assist faculty in incorporating various instructional design principles and technology tools into their teaching, and supporting student learning with instructional technology applications, in collaboration with the Office of Online Curriculum and Instruction.

  • Design, develop and implement multimedia tools to promote and assist in the delivery of in-person, Hy-Flex and remote instruction in the college.

  • Lead and advance Instructional Technology Specialists in the use of hardware and software to enhance online instruction.

  • Collaborate with the Office of Online Curriculum and Instruction for the development and implementation of instructional design principles that contribute to the creation of online materials.

  • Ensure the creation, revision, and management of documentation of policies, procedures, and team knowledge as it relates to the day-to-day support and development of services.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned by immediate supervisor.




    Requirements:

    Qualifications and Working Conditions:

    • Bachelor's degree in Instructional Technology, Education, Communications, Information Technology or a related field is required. Master's degree in a related field is preferred.

    • 2-3 yrs. Experience recommended with information technology systems. Or 2-3yrs. Experience required with academic technology or information technology systems. Related certifications are highly desired but not required.

    • Demonstrated ability in designing instructional materials and integrating technology tools in learning process is required.

    • Experience with instructional development tools web conferencing tools and deployment of applications used in online learning. Experience preferred with supporting and using learning management systems, such as Brightspace (D2L), Canvas, Blackboard and others.

    • Experience with educational technology tools and platforms; and strong knowledge with academic computing, applications and databases preferred.

    • Experience supporting the management of server-based applications acting as a primary or backup administrator.

    • Experience with digital, video editing, and social media tools into instructional and learning processes.

    • Maintain effective interpersonal and communication skills with internal and external constituents.

    • The role is expected to carry out its duties with the ability to come on-campus during probation period, 65 work days. After probation period hybrid work is available.

      Physical Demands:

      Light lifting up to 10 lbs. and light carrying up to 10 lbs. Ability to reach above shoulder. Periods of time spent sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, bending and stooping. Mobility to move from building to building on-Campus and to visit off-Campus entities. Work is performed in a general office environment and sedentary in nature. Little or no exposure to adverse working conditions.

      Supervision Received:

      Administrative supervision is received from the Director of Campus Technologies.

      Supervision Exercised:

      Administrative supervision is exercised over Instructional Technology Specialist(s) and other team members.

      Hours: Monday - Friday 8:15 am - 5:00 pm

      Salary: $65,958

      Based on the needs of the college and with Administrator approval, some positions at the college may have remote or hybrid schedule options available. Please note, that during the 65 working day probationary period, employees are required to report to campus.
