Job Details - Location: East Chicago, IN 46312 (Lake Michigan shoreline / Chicago area) - Setting: Long-Term Acute Care (LTAC) – LTAC nurse role - Employment Type: Travel Contract / Travel Nurse - Start Date: ASAP - Duration: 13 weeks - Shift: 12-hour day shifts (3 shifts per week) — Day Shift RN - Hours per Week: 36 - Estimated Weekly Pay: $1840 - $1940 Required Qualifications / RN Requirements - Active and unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license - BLS (Basic Life Support) certification – required prior to first shift - ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification – required prior to first shift - Minimum of 1 year of recent bedside clinical experience (2 years highly desired) - Strong assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills—experience in LTAC or complex care preferred LTAC Nurse Responsibilities - Deliver high-quality nursing care following individualized care plans and LTAC clinical protocols - Supervise and provide direction to Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs), and orientees - Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients’ physical, emotional, and functional needs - Develop, implement, and update nursing care plans based on assessment data and interdisciplinary input - Administer medications and IV therapies according to established protocols—IV therapy experience preferred - Monitor and respond promptly to changes in patient condition, utilizing SBAR for effective communication - Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to coordinate and evaluate rehabilitation and LTAC goals - Educate and counsel patients and families, providing discharge instructions and referrals as needed - Document all care provided in a timely, accurate, and thorough manner - Demonstrate competency in emergency response, including CPR and Code Blue situations - Adhere to infection control, safety, and hospital policies and procedures - Engage in continuous quality improvement and professional development activities Why Join Our LTAC Nursing Team - Meaningful LTAC nursing role caring for medically complex patients - Work in a supportive, collaborative team focused on patient-centered care and rehab goals - Opportunity to live near Lake Michigan with easy access to Chicago-area amenities - Great travel nurse experience to expand your clinical skills and professional network Experience the rewards of working in a close-knit LTAC community while making a difference for patients who need your expertise.
