About the Long-Term Group Home
The Long-Term Group Home (LTGH) is one of Maryvilles contributions
to the safety and well-being of children globally. Boys and girls
displaced by war, violence, abuse or chronic poverty find a home at
Maryville when there is no family member to care for them.
Maryvilles group homes for boys and girls ages 12 through 17 offer
a trauma-informed environment that permits New Americans to develop
their skills and talents in a community of support and safety. The
Maryville Long-Term Group Home is federally sponsored through the
Health and Human Services Office of Refugee Resettlement and
ensures that the childrens physical, emotional, spiritual and
psychological well-being is protected.
About Program Nurse Position
The Program Nurse for Unaccompanied Children Programs is
responsible for assuring the provision of quality health services
for Maryville youth according to the standards and guidelines of
the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR). The Program Nurse is
expected to apply knowledge in the field of nursing for the benefit
of a diverse group of children. Position requires the consistent
exercise of discretion and judgment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
* Follows Maryville Academy Standard Medical Operating
Procedures.
* Monitors health care delivery to children at assigned sites,
including:Initial Medical Examination (IME), attention to medical
complaints, including on-site nurse to child attention and timely
implementation of recommendations from medical consultations.
* Medication administration, storage, documentation and
consents.
* Delivery of prescribed patient care.
* Follow-through on physicians' orders, prescription and lab work
in an accurate and timely manner.
* Attention to medical clearance system for safe and timely family
reunification, including coordination with program and case
management; and
* Accurate entry to patient medical record system, using ORR portal
system.
* Conducts staff training on the Administration of Medical
Monitoring (AMM).
* Develops and presents medical workshops and trainings.
* Communicates with the therapists, dietician(s), and
psychiatrist(s) and all members of the multi-disciplinary team;
participates in internal case staffing.
* Participates in treatment team meetings, management team meetings
and quarterly review staffing as needed.
* Implements Maryvilles Zero Tolerance of Sexual Abuse policy;
initiates professional trauma-informed response in the event of
sexual abuse.
* Implements necessary residential adaptation including medical
isolation, when indicated.
* Schedules timely medical appointments, as per ORR policy and
Maryville schedule systems.
* Accompanies children to medical appointments as needed.
* Maintains communication, consultation and appropriate
notification with the health division of ORR.
* Remains knowledgeable to communicable disease, pandemics,
epidemics and other public health hazards that could affect the
LTFC population.
* On-call 24 hours as needed, for crisis situations.
* Participates in continued performance quality improvement;
and
* Performs other work-related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education/Experience:
* Minimum of Licensed Practical Nurse. Licensed Registered Nurse,
preferred.
* One-year experience in pediatric nursing.
* Physical assessment course work preferred.
Salary:
71-74K
Skills /Knowledge:
* Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
* Proven teamwork capacity, both with nurse colleagues and program
staff.
* Basic computer proficiency including working knowledge of MS
Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
* Current certification in infant/child/adult CPR; and
* Bilingual English/Spanish language competency preferred
Physical Demands:
* Required to frequently sit, stand, bend, stoop and walk,
sometimes for extended periods; able to walk up and down
stairs;
* Required to lift/move objects and/or youth weighing in excess of
40 pounds;
* Must have visual, hearing, and learning capabilities sufficient
to perform the essential functions defined above.
Must possess the ability to provide physical restraint for students
threatening to harm themselves or others.
Environment and Scheduling:
* Work is performed in designated program;
* Duties involve contact with youth who may be traumatized;
* Will be scheduled to work on weekends and/or holidays.

confidentiality is protected by the HIPAA Privacy Rule are required
by the Rule to receive training so that they have an understanding
and knowledge of the Privacy Rule that corresponds to their job
responsibilities and of the group health plans policies and
procedures that impact on their job duties. Site specific training
on requirements of the HIPAA Privacy Rule and the plans health
information policies and procedures under the direction of the plan
privacy officer may be required for this position based upon site
specific requirements. Employees who violate the requirements of
the HIPAA Privacy Rule will be subject to discipline, up to and
including termination.
