Genesis - Medical Assistant. Moving position from Melrose Park to Genesis. Genesis - Medical AssistantPosition SummaryThe Medical assistant is part of a healthcare team assistingmedical providers in rendering professional care to patients within anambulatory/primary care setting. Core Job Responsibilities:---Take vitalsigns, perform phlebotomy and quality controls, administermedications/vaccines, monitor patient's charts and assess patient needs throughdiscussion with patient and /or family.---Respond topatient questions and provide health care information, ensure that needs ofpatients and their families are addressed, and health center policy isfollowed.---Reviewmedical records for overdue labs and procedures and notify providers asnecessary.---Contact appropriateentities (e.g. lab, imaging studies, consultation reports, hospital dischargesummaries, Emergency Department reports, etc.) for medical data collection tohelp prepare for patient visits.---Assistprovider with onsite procedures---Returnpatients phone calls; schedule patient appointments---Follow upwith patients regarding lab results and schedule appointments with specialists---Ensuresufficient and appropriate supplies are available in exam rooms---Maintain openlines of communication with providers, front desk staff and other clinicemployees and utilizes a team-based approach to coordinate patient care.---Completethe patient check-out procedure at the end of the visit, including any followup needed. Ensure all patient concerns have been met prior to the patient'sdeparture.---Providede-escalation; calm and/or defuse irate callers and patients by working withthem to identify and properly address concerns---Securepatient information and maintain patient confidence by completing andsafeguarding medical records; keeping patient information confidential---Assist atfront desk as needed---Travel toother health centers for training and to provide coverage (as necessary)---Successfulcompletion of Medical Assistant Competency program upon hire and annuallythereafter (see attached Primary and Secondary Skills list)---Otherduties as assignedRequirements/Preferences---High schooldiploma or equivalent required---MedicalAssistant diploma from an accredited program required---Certificationor Registration preferred---A minimumof one (1) year experience preferredRequirements/Preferencescontinued---CPR certificationrequired---Basicproficiency with Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, etc.) required---Basicproficiency with EHR preferred, Epic a plusCompetencies/Behaviors---Customerservice orientation; ability to interact effectively with diverse patients ofall ages and backgrounds---Communication;excellent written and verbal communication skills---Attentionto detail and accuracy; ability to enter data into patients charts and medicalrecord system accurately and completely---Proactive;ability to anticipate provider needs in examining and treating patients---Organized;ability to multitask and complete tasks in a fast-paced environment withongoing interruptions---Ability tofollow directions and comply with health center policies and procedures---Collaborationand team work; ability to work cooperatively as part of a medical team---Culturalcompetence; ability interact with individuals from a variety of socio-economic,cultural, and religious backgroundsWho We Are ACCESS is at the forefront of expanding access to affordable, comprehensive healthcare.
