Offers may vary depending on the circumstances of each case.SummaryRush Copley Medical Center presents an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Risk Manager. The Clinical Risk Manager will represent pressing clinical risks at our Rush Copley Medical Center campus - responsible for identifying areas of risk and loss prevention throughout the hospital and outpatient settings, as well as across the organization. The Risk Manager will work closely with cross-functional stakeholders to assess the risk, analyze the risk utilizing data analysis, assist with the development of risk mitigation plans, and provide data to key leaders to advise and mitigate the risk. The Risk Manager is responsible for developing and implementing plans to mitigate risk issues through proactive response planning, incident management plans, education, and assisting with the facilitation of process improvement across the system. The Clinical Risk Manager is responsible for conducting a thorough investigation of all potential claims, including medical record reviews, indicator assessment, controls analysis, interviews, and discovery-based meetings. Risk Managers are expected to be on call 24/7 to provide risk advice as needed.   • Bachelor's degree in Nursing is required.
  • At least 3 years of risk management experience desired.
  • At least 5 years of clinical work in the healthcare industry is required.
  • National clinical/risk certification is desired.
  • Familiarity with a RMIS system and reporting tools is strongly desired.
  • Highly developed relationship management, influencing and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work across all risk categories and business lines of a healthcare organization.
  • Proficient in designing and producing high quality reports and presentations.
  • Ability and desire to function collaboratively as a team as well as an individual contributor.
  • Analytical and problem solving skills required.
  • Ability to process, review, and triage multiple demands, with the ability to shift priorities as needed.
  • Leadership acumen and experience strongly preferred.
  • Approachable, positive, energetic, and proactive with excellent ability to communicate both orally and in writing.
  • Committed to accountability, hard work, process improvement, and excellence.
  • Ability to provide on call coverage.Position Responsibilities
    • Champions the organization's clinical risk management program to meet the strategic goals of the organization while complying with all applicable laws and standards.
    • Oversees the implementation of all aspects of the operating risk function including processes, tools, and systems used to measure the business line operating risk.
    • Serves as a resource for capturing and reporting data on department or unit risk trends with analysis findings and benchmarking.
    • Assists in identifying, assessing, and reporting potential risks with early and proactive intervention in an effort to mitigate risk across the organization.
    • Partners with Claims Management to identify potential claims, and with Patient Relations to support patient grievances - by conducting thorough and detailed investigations.
    • Assists with developing, maintaining, and counseling on risk policies and procedures across the organization.
    • Proactively educates medical staff, nursing, ancillary departments, house staff, and administration on risk management practices, culture and issues.
    • Facilitates the review, analysis coding, investigation, remediation and distribution of safety events with the risk management team.
    • Assists in, and at times leads, the development and implementation of clinical incident, crisis management, and risk remediation plans.
    • Participates in various committees throughout the organization to evaluate various risks and develop process improvement plans as necessary.Rush is an equal opportunity employer.
