Scope of Position:
The Director of Housekeeping is responsible for ensuring the
operation of the Housekeeping Department in an efficient manner
providing all guests with quality service and a clean and safe
environment throughout their stay, while effectively managing
expenses and maximizing service levels.
Job Responsibilities:
-Approach all encounters with guests and team members in a
friendly, service-oriented manner.
-Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Prism standards, as
required by scheduling, which will vary according to the needs of
the hotel.
-Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which
includes proper dress and a correct nametag when working.
-Comply at all times with Prism standards and regulations to
encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.
-Must, at all times, be attentive, friendly, helpful and courteous
to all guests, managers, and other team members.
-Assist in the hiring, training and career development of all
housekeeping employees; assist and conduct with performance
evaluations and communicating performance standards to
employees.
-Inspect the level of cleanliness in guest rooms, storage areas,
laundry areas, restrooms and public areas.
-Schedule staff according to standards and forecasted occupancy;
payroll budget guidelines and productivity requirements and assigns
daily work tasks to employees.
-Assist in the ordering and receiving of linen and cleaning
supplies to maintain appropriate inventory levels necessary for
efficient operation of the department; assists with monthly linen
and supply inventory to maintain required pars of all Housekeeping
and Laundry supplies.
-Ensure the completion of the Housekeeper's Report and communicates
clean and available rooms to the Guest Services Department.
-Document and communicate and monitors to completion, maintenance
requests to the Engineering Department to ensure hotel service
quality standards are met.
-Respond quickly to guest requests in a friendly manner. Follow up
to ensure guest satisfaction.
-Follow company philosophies, policies and procedures and
effectively communicate them to subordinates.
-Conduct training classes regarding safety, security, department
procedures and service guidelines.
-Fulfill Manager on Duty shifts as indicated
-Ensures hotel is in compliance with all federal, state and local
laws, including OSHA, EEOC, Wage Hour and Health laws, and ensures
all corporate Risk Management (MSDS, HazComm, etc.) standards are
in compliance
-Motivate, coach, counsel and discipline according to Prism
standards.
-Maintain a regularly scheduled cleaning program (i.e. floor care,
deep cleaning, mattress flipping, etc) and maintains a detailed
checklist for each position.
-Maintain and control all housekeeping equipment in good working
order.
-Ensure that large guestroom turns are handled efficiently.
-Maintain consistency with departmental opening and closing
procedures.
-Inspect rooms daily, and ensure that some rooms are inspected with
supervisors on a daily basis.
-Ensure that public areas, guest rooms and heart of the house areas
are cleaned to Brand standards.
-Conduct pre-shift meetings for all room attendants and
housemen.
-Respond to emergency situations using information contained in MSD
sheets. Keep MSD sheets current and easily available and ensure
that all team members are aware of them.
-Operate radios and cell phones efficiently and professionally in
communicating with hotel staff. Ensure proper use of radio and
phone etiquette with the department.
-Monitor out-of-order, out-of-service, and discrepant and show
rooms.
-Maintain constant communication with Guest Services.
-Balance and clear room status nightly; compare the p.m.
housekeeping report with hotel system room status report and
resolve discrepancies.
-Review housekeeping team member's hours for payroll and submit on
a timely basis.
-Know and understand all services and amenities the hotel
offers.
-Practice proper safety rules to ensure the safety and security of
all guests and Team Members (issuance of keys, not announcing room
numbers and fire procedures).
-Ensure all public area carpets and floors are vacuumed and swept
daily.
-Ensure all furniture, pictures, decorations, appliances and
structural surfaces such as wall fixtures, window sells and vents
are dusted and cleaned daily
-Ensure proper changing of linen and re-making of beds according to
standards. Ensure the shower is clean; free of soap scum, hair and
mildew.
-Check for mildew and damaged shower curtains and clean/replace as
needed.
-Ensure carts are well maintained and stocked according to
standards.
-Run VIP report on a daily basis to inspect rooms.
-Perform other duties as requested by management.
-Attend meetings/training as required by management.
