For more information visit www.uop.com.We have an exciting opening for an Advanced Mechanical Design Engineer in the Engineering department within UOP Engineering and Projects (E&P).----You will be a mechanical engineering expert further developing your skills for a deep understanding of stress analysis, solids mechanics, particle flow, fluid dynamics, and heat transfer to solve complex problems using advanced tools and equations.-- Specific areas of interest include elastic plastic analysis, creep analysis, fracture analysis, fitness for service, vibration analysis, and developing an intimate knowledge of codes and standards such as ASME and API.--In addition, you will be responsible for leading the mechanical design, application, and innovation for the Gas Processing area. You will apply your mechanical design expertise in reactor internals systems, pressure vessels, piping, and specialty process equipment design to solve problems in support of the execution of Schedule A and Equipment projects, R&D new product introduction, and operating unit troubleshooting.UOP102020KEY RESPONSIBILITIES---Assess mechanical issues that limit UOP's process technology and target efforts to break through these barriers.---Improve UOP's mechanical design capability by developing or enhancing technical policies, procedures, tools, and standards.---Provide leadership and develop innovative approaches for advancing UOP's expertise in granular solids, fluid, and solid mechanics.---Lead the mechanical development and commercialization of new technologies and equipment for the Gas Processing area.---Support the execution of customer basic design and equipment supply projects by completing required design/analysis and specifications for pressure vessels, internals, and related specialty equipment.---Develop and present training for both internal and external customers---Troubleshoot complex design and field operational issues and interface with customers to drive issue resolution.---Completing FEA, FFS and/or CFD analysis in support of troubleshooting or development projects.---Provide coaching and mentoring to develop othersYOU MUST HAVE---Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering---8+ years' experience in mechanical engineering designWE VALUE---A Master's Degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering with coursework in the areas of Heat Transfer, Advanced Solid Mechanics, Fluid Mechanics and Vibration---Innate technical curiosity-----Experience in the design and specification of reactor systems across a broad range of process technologies with specific experience in Gas Processing technologies.---Working knowledge of relevant ASME pressure vessel and piping codes, API practices, and UOP standards.---Demonstrated ability to go from initial concept to design specifications/drawings and equipment requisitions for pressure vessels, internals, and piping components.---Working knowledge of the following with respect to pressure vessel and piping system design: solid and fracture mechanics, elastic and plastic stress analysis, heat transfer, hydraulics, welding, system and component design, detailed design, re-rating, fitness-for-service, remaining life evaluations, material selection, computational fluid dynamics (CFD), finite element analysis (FEA), inspection, testing, fabrication, and construction techniques.---Demonstrated ability to multi-task effectively to prioritize and deliver on several simultaneous internal and customer projects---Self-motivation with a demonstrated ability to innovate to improve products or work processes---Demonstrated ability to use fundamental engineering concepts in analyzing and solving complex problems---Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, develop, and mentor others---Experience working with diverse, global teams---Strong verbal and written communication skillsInclusion and Diversity (I&D) is a foundational principle at Honeywell, both because it's the right thing to do and because it is a fundamental enabler for our business.
